Make a Difference for Western Australia's Native Wildlife.

Every rescue begins with someone who cares. Chittering Wildlife Carers is powered entirely by dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills and compassion to help native wildlife in need. Whether you're passionate about hands-on animal care, supporting behind the scenes or helping at community events, there is a place for you.

No Experience? No Problem.

Many of our volunteers started with no previous wildlife experience. If you're willing to learn, compassionate and committed to helping native wildlife, we'll provide guidance, mentoring and training to help you develop the knowledge and confidence you need.

By joining our team, you'll become part of a supportive community committed to protecting and preserving Western Australia's unique wildlife for future generations.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Volunteering with Chittering Wildlife Carers is a meaningful and rewarding way to make a real difference to Australia’s native wildlife. Whether you’re directly caring for animals, helping behind the scenes or supporting our work in the community, every contribution helps us rescue, rehabilitate and return wildlife to where they belong. There’s something incredibly special about knowing that your time, skills and effort are helping an animal through one of the most vulnerable moments of its life—and ultimately giving it a second chance in the wild.

There are many ways you can get involved:

  • 🦘 Rescue, care for and rehabilitate native wildlife in need.

  • 🚗 Transport injured and orphaned wildlife to carers or veterinary clinics.

  • 🌭 Support fundraising events including sausage sizzles, community shows and local events.

  • ♻️ Collect eligible containers through Containers for Change to help raise vital funds.

  • 🧵 Sew joey and possum pouches to provide comfort and security for orphaned animals.

  • 🪵 Build possum release boxes and help with practical wildlife projects.

  • 🌱 Support community education and help spread the word about protecting Western Australia’s native wildlife.

More Than Volunteering

Being part of Chittering Wildlife Carers is also an opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn new skills and become part of a community that genuinely cares about our wildlife. Through training, mentoring and hands-on experience, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your knowledge while contributing to something bigger than yourself. And perhaps most rewarding of all, you’ll experience the incredible feeling of watching an animal recover, thrive and eventually return to the wild—knowing that you played a part in giving it that second chance. ❤️

Whether you have a few hours each month, a particular skill to share, or simply a desire to help, there is a place for you here. Every volunteer makes a difference.
